Stanton®
Survey
New Edition
The
Stanton® Survey identifies applicants who are less prone to
be involved in counter-productive incidents and have a higher degree
of work ethic. Administration of the Survey offers a deterrent effect:
applicants are told, at the point of hire, that the organization
takes honesty very seriously.
The Survey provides employers with a consistent standard of hiring;
especially important when several different interviewers are making
the hiring decision. The Survey saves interviewer time by obtaining
critical information about an applicant’s integrity with minimal
interviewer work. It also halts the automatic hiring of applicants
based on “gut feel” and upon subjective values such
as “liking the applicant”.

Constructs
The Survey is an 83 item pre-employment questionnaire measuring
an applicant's attitudes toward integrity and workplace counter
productive behavior. Information from three sub-constructs are reported
as Additional Information:
- Work
Related Theft measures whether an applicant was involved in
theft at previous jobs or associated with others involved in
deviant behaviors. These items also measure an applicant’s
views concerning theft in the workplace.
- Non-Work
Related Theft describes theft behavior unrelated to work. Individuals
who display deviant behavior in situations outside the workplace
are more likely to be involved in counter productive behavior
at work.
- Policy
Compliance Issues examines the likelihood a person will violate
company policies other than theft, such as abusing sick time
and bending company rules.
- A
Credibility scale is included to monitor the applicant’s
level of exaggeration.
Results
The applicant’s final score is reported as a percentile
score. The percentile score gives the interviewer a picture of
how this applicant scored as compared to other applicants who
have taken the Survey. Minimum requirements are established by
the client and usually range from 25 to 45 percent.
Clients may choose to receive expanded or abbreviated results.
Expanded results include the applicant’s score, adjudication
statement (“meets” or “does not meet”
minimum company guidelines), listing of Additional Information
items, and sample structured interview questions for follow up
interviews. Abbreviated results indicate only if the applicant
meets or does not meet minimum company guidelines.
Administration Time
When administered in a pencil and paper format, administration time
is about 20 minutes. The answer sheet is faxed directly to the Stanton®
Assessment Center. A result is returned by fax, or telephone call,
within the same day.
Language Options
The New Edition is available in English and French.
Management Reports
Management reports are provided to the client, as requested. Standard
reports identify the quantity of tests administered, by location,
and the percentage of applicants who meet and do not meet the minimum
guidelines. Custom reports are available.
