Mr.
MADUCK retired in 1996 after 24 years of combined service with the
Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Canadian Security Intelligence
Service (CSIS).
After
graduation from the University of Saskatchewan in 1972, with a degree
in Chemistry, Mr. MADUCK began his career as a forensic scientist
with the RCMP Forensic Laboratory System, stationed in Vancouver,
BC, and later in Regina, Sask. As a forensic chemist, he was responsible
for scientific analysis of crime scene evidence. Mr. MADUCK has
provided expert testimony and scientific reports for courts in British
Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. His forensic investigation
experience includes murder, arson, break and enter, bombings, sexual
assault and sabotage.
In
1977, Mr. MADUCK transferred to Manitoba where he performed RCMP
Detachment duties until 1981, at which time, he was transferred
to the RCMP Security Service in Edmonton, Alberta. While there,
he was asked to conduct counter-terrorism, counter-espionage and
other national security investigations. In 1984, the federal government
created the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) to replace
the RCMP Security Service and to assume responsibility for investigating
threats to the security of Canada.
From
1984 until his retirement in 1996, Mr. MADUCK served as a Senior
Intelligence Officer for CSIS in both Edmonton and Calgary. Over
the years, he has acquired extensive operational experience related
to the investigation and threat analysis of:
Domestic/International Terrorism
Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction
Economic/Industrial Espionage
Foreign Intelligence Activity
Transnational Organized Crime
As
the Corporate Liaison Officer for CSIS in Calgary, he has liaised
extensively with private sector companies, particularly those conducting
business in the international arena where threats to their security,
from both a safety and an economic standpoint, are often substantially
greater than in Canada. A particular focus was placed on companies
in the petroleum and high technology sectors conducting business
in the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia
and South America.
Since
1996, Mr. Maduck has conducted investigations and provided security
consultation services for corporate, legal and other clients on
a national and international basis.
